Funda Kunye
Funda Kunye is a small NPO based in Hout Bay, Cape Town. Our goal is to equip caregivers with the necessary Early Childhood Development (ECD) skills and resources to enable them to provide a quality early learning programme to the children in their care for life-long impact.
The funds raised in 2023 went towards supporting our mission of promoting the holistic development and education of vulnerable babies and children in Imizamo Yethu Hout Bay. The funds were utilised to address the effects of poverty and inequality by increasing access to quality Early Childhood Development (ECD) services in 5, daycares.
Funds were used for teacher and principal training. Providing resources and equipment, development of management skills to the ECD practitioners, field worker support to provide mentoring and support to the caregivers on an ongoing basis.
The overall goal was to empower caregivers with Early Childhood Development skills and resources, creating a nurturing and loving environment for children in their care. The beneficiaries of the program included ECD centers, teachers, supervisors, parents, children, and children with disabilities. The initiative aimed to have a long-term impact on the community by promoting quality education and holistic development for vulnerable children.
This year Funda Kunye is excited to announce its expansion. The organisation is set to take on an additional 7 daycares with a firm commitment to educate, empower, and equip caregivers. We want to make a lasting impact on the lives of both caregivers and the children in their care.
Our overall focus for 2024 is to build on the successes of previous initiatives and further strengthen the ECD program’s impact on the community.
